A lavish soundtrack collection celebrates the films of director Isao Takahata, whose work continues to inspire a devoted following. Following the acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki & Joe Hisaishi Soundtrack Box, this companion volume brings together the music of his films, including rare soundtracks that had become difficult to obtain.

The collection reaches beyond his Studio Ghibli films to his earlier animated work. Jarinko Chie's original film soundtrack makes its first appearance on CD, while music from Only Yesterday and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya previously absent from their soundtrack albums is gathered alongside the original scores.
