Mobile Suit Gundam Anime

In Universal Century 0079, Side 3, the space colony farthest from Earth, declares itself the Principality of Zeon and begins a war of independence against the Federation. During a surprise attack on Side 7, fifteen-year-old Amuro climbs into the Gundam almost by accident and defeats the attacking Zaku mobile suits. White Base takes aboard the refugees and begins a desperate escape, pursued by Zeon's Red Comet, Char. With the adults who once protected them gone, Amuro and the survivors must fight to stay alive.

The first Mobile Suit Gundam theatrical film features Toru Furuya as Amuro, Hirotaka Suzuoki as Bright, Shozo Iizuka as Ryu, Toshio Furukawa as Kai and Kiyonobu Suzuki as Hayato. Fuyumi Shiraishi voices Mirai, Yo Inoue voices Sayla, Rumiko Ukai voices Fraw and Keiko Toda voices Matilda. The Zeon cast includes Shuichi Ikeda as Char, Katsuji Mori as Garma, Yuzuru Fujimoto as Degwin, Mami Koyama as Kycilia, Banjo Ginga as Gihren and Daisuke Gori as Dozle. Masashi Hirose and Yumi Nakatani play Ramba Ral and Hamon, Chieko Baisho voices Kamaria, and Ichiro Nagai narrates.

The 139-minute film is housed in a 32 cm square EMOTION Big Jacket. Japanese Dolby Atmos audio is provided alongside the original 1981 theatrical soundtrack in Linear PCM mono, with switchable Japanese subtitles. The original teaser and theatrical trailer appear in their 4K-restored versions on this 1080p Blu-ray.
