The Arland trilogy returns in DX form

The enduringly popular Arland trilogy from the Atelier series is reborn in DX editions.

Arland is one of the alchemy-based Atelier series, in which you combine materials to create new items. With illustrator Mel Kishida's character designs, its appealing characters and distinctive world have captivated many players. The trilogy comprises Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland and Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland.

What the DX editions bring

The games return on newer platforms, including PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

These deluxe versions build on New Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori Plus and Atelier Meruru Plus, which added scenarios, monsters, costumes and other new elements to their originals, and include downloadable content.

A separate Atelier Arland 1, 2 and 3 DX Premium Box was also released, bringing all three games together with original merchandise in a specially priced set. This individual edition contains the game named in its title.

Save the atelier

Become apprentice alchemist Rorona and complete the kingdom's assignments in place of her absent master, saving the atelier that is her cherished home from the threat of closure.

This first entry in the Arland series combines synthesis, exploration and combat as you work to earn the kingdom's recognition and secure the atelier's survival. Achieve the required evaluation within the time limit and fulfill different conditions to discover a variety of endings.

A rapidly changing kingdom and a forgotten art

Arland is a small kingdom in one corner of the continent. It was once a poor country with a small population and no contact with other nations, but everything changed when a civilization of machines was discovered in nearby ruins. Now everyone in town enjoys a prosperous life.

One alchemy workshop stands quietly in this town. It used to do reasonably well, but perhaps because the machines have made everyone wealthy, or perhaps because its lazy owner never does any work, it no longer attracts a single customer.

One day, a messenger from the kingdom arrives at the atelier with a warning: unless it can prove within three years that it is doing its job properly, its business license will be revoked.

After hearing this, the owner remains as unmotivated as ever. She leaves the entire workshop in her apprentice's hands and goes off somewhere to enjoy herself.

Left behind is one bewildered girl, suddenly burdened with an enormous responsibility. Her name is Rorolina Frixell, though the townspeople call her Rorona.

As machines advance and people begin to forget alchemy, can she protect her atelier and use this art to contribute to their lives?

A rapidly developing country and an art slipping from memory: the story of the Alchemist of Arland begins here.

Additional content incorporated into the game

The DX edition includes many additions from New Atelier Rorona: an easier-to-understand yet deeper synthesis system, a battle system combining strategy and cooperation, and a post-game extension with additional maps and new enemies. It also incorporates additional elements from the Nintendo 3DS edition of New Atelier Rorona; some content is excluded.

Included extra costumes are Peach Vacation, Orange Swimsuit and Lady's Etiquette. An additional set of eight tracks lets you change the background music.

Characters illustrated by Mel Kishida

The character designs are by Mel Kishida. Known for illustrations with a luminous, translucent quality, he brings the Arland cast to life. The many characters he has drawn add color and charm to the world of Arland.
