A dream of encountering something mysterious

The sequel to Atelier Sophie, a title that remains popular within the Atelier series, arrives.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream was introduced as the latest entry in the Atelier RPG series, which centers on alchemy. It follows Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book, one of the series' most popular games, which achieved cumulative worldwide shipments of 400,000 copies.

This is one story among the many adventures experienced by the alchemist Sophie after leaving her hometown of Kirchen Bell and continuing her travels.

It follows Sophie's search for her companion Plachta after the two become separated in the dream world of Erde Wiege, depicting the bonds she forms with the companions she meets and the feelings passed from one heart to another.

Character designs are by NOCO and Yuugen, the two illustrators of the Mysterious series. Familiar characters Sophie and Plachta are joined by characters making their first appearance here, adding color to the adventure.

Searching for her companion in a dream world

During their travels after leaving Kirchen Bell, Sophie and her companion Plachta discover a great tree that looks just like the one Plachta saw in a dream.

As they approach to investigate more closely, a mysterious vortex suddenly appears and draws them in, separating them from each other.

A Plachta Sophie does not know

In Erde Wiege, the world reached through the vortex, Sophie searches for Plachta. She learns that an alchemist named Plachta has an atelier on the outskirts of town.

Sophie immediately visits, only to find a girl she does not recognize...

Meeting the alchemist who brings the town together

Sophie asks Ramizel Erlenmeyer, the alchemist who serves as the mediator of Roytale, a town in Erde Wiege, for help.

Ramizel gladly agrees to assist in the search for Plachta.

Characters and voices

Sophie Neuenmuller is voiced by Yuuka Aisaka. Plachta is voiced by Yuka Iguchi. Ramizel Erlenmeyer is voiced by Rie Takahashi. Plachta in her doll form is also voiced by Yuka Iguchi.

Sophie has left her hometown and struggles each day as she travels, aiming to become a licensed alchemist like her late grandmother. She has a cheerful, gentle disposition, but she is also serious and hard-working. Her tendency toward untidiness is becoming more pronounced.

Renewed graphics bring Sophie and her companions to life

The 3D models have been renewed, presenting Sophie and the other characters at the latest level of quality for this installment. Their emotional expressions have also been enhanced, and the more expressive characters move throughout the world of the Mysterious series.

The fantasy-filled world distinctive to the Mysterious series is realized at a quality befitting the latest Atelier entry. Water and light effects have evolved as well. Enjoy adventures and battles across vast, beautiful fields.

Evolved turn-based battles and seamless transitions

Combat is turn-based with a party of six. Coordinate two groups—a front line of three and a rear line of three—to enjoy strategic battles.

Seamless Battles switch from exploration to combat without loading. When you make contact with an enemy, your allies appear and battle begins on the spot.

Numerous battle animations keep the action visually engaging, including Dual Trigger, a special attack unleashed by any two party members teaming up.

Two types of panels make synthesis enjoyable for everyone

Atelier Sophie 2 uses Panel Synthesis. Create items by fitting materials into the squares of each panel. Position materials effectively to aim for a variety of effects.

Choose between two panel types: the regular panel, which is approachable even for players unfamiliar with synthesis, and the more challenging Restricted Panel.

The Restricted Panel becomes available as the game progresses. Although its board is somewhat more complex, placing materials skillfully lets you synthesize items with powerful effects that cannot be obtained on the regular panel.
