Humanity, defy your fate

Seven years after Earth Defense Force 3, the proper sequel Earth Defense Force 4 arrived in 2013, delivering the series’ greatest sense of despair and excitement.

In 2015, Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of Despair added episodes not depicted in Earth Defense Force 4’s storyline and moved the battlefield to PlayStation 4, with the series’ largest scope and impact at the time.

Finally, in 2017, Earth Defense Force 5 lifts the veil on a new setting, depicting humanity’s confrontation with an invasion by unknown extraterrestrial life.

The first appearance of enemy aliens themselves in the fifth main instalment delivers a new shock. Is humanity destined to perish before this unprecedented threat?

Humanity, overcome despair. Resist your fate!

The year is 2022

This action shooter depicts the fight between extraterrestrial life and the Earth Defense Force, the worldwide defence organisation known as EDF.

Become an EDF soldier and protect peace on Earth by defeating the countless attacking enemies.

The series’ first appearance of the invading alien enemy

What are the Primers, an intelligent extraterrestrial civilisation and a mysterious enemy?

For the first time in the series, the invading alien enemy finally reveals its own form.

Combat against highly intelligent enemies creates an even deeper sense of despair, leading to the greatest satisfaction in overcoming it.

EDF, fight with courage and wisdom.

The series’ greatest scope, with online cooperative play

The original announcement describes the largest collection of missions, weapons and equipment in the series.

All missions support online cooperative play for up to four players.

Offline cooperative play is also possible through split-screen play.

Master the four soldier classes and fight alongside real EDF members across Japan.
