The highly acclaimed Ys VIII comes to PS4 with major upgrades

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana won strong praise, including from newcomers, and enjoyed unusually long-lasting sales for a PS Vita-exclusive title. Its polished action and distinctive systems now return in a substantially upgraded PS4 release.

Enjoy simple yet deep, exhilarating party battles and stirring music that encourages further play. Explore an isolated island at sea through the dual-protagonist system featuring adventurer Adol and the mysterious Dana, and develop the Castaway Village base together with other survivors.

Higher resolution, 60 fps and PS4 Pro 4K support

Characters, maps, interfaces and other data receive higher resolution for PS4, with 4K image support for PS4 Pro users.

Prioritizing comfort as an action RPG, the game runs at 60 frames per second for smoother action.

Additional episodes for Dana

New episodes focus on Dana, the hugely popular other protagonist paired with Adol. What happened around her toward the end of Dana’s story? The truth about her world, not depicted in the Vita version, is revealed.

Style Change and new abilities

Dana’s part gains a Style Change system that lets her change between water, earth and light forms in battle. Switch among the three styles to conquer vast dungeons. The upgraded edition also introduces new skills.

Attack the beasts’ nests with the castaways

The new Suppression Battle mode adapts the Vita version’s well-received Interception Battle base defense into base assaults, taking the castaways with you to attack beasts’ nests.

Original PS4 modes and further dungeons

Gallery Mode lets you freely view illustrations, movies and event scenes from the game.

The highest difficulty, Inferno, is included for core PS4 players who enjoy demanding action.

From a second playthrough onward, Solo Play Mode breaks convention by letting you play with a single protagonist and change attack attributes during battle. Additional dungeons for Adol’s part also appear.
