Ys Nihon Falcom

An adventure celebrating 35 years of Ys

Adol the adventurer sets out for the distant northern sea!

Celebrating the action RPG series' 35th anniversary, Ys X takes place in the northern waters of Obelia Gulf. Every element has been renewed for a reborn Ys, unfolding the story of the adventurer Adol and the pirate princess Karja.

Cross Action switches between Solo Mode and Combination Mode for exhilarating, technical combat. Sailing-ship exploration and naval battles using a variety of cannonballs introduce further firsts for the series.

A new adventure in Obelia Gulf

The setting is Obelia Gulf, a northern sea dotted with countless islands large and small. Who are the seafaring Normans whom the young adventurer Adol Christin encounters there, and the immortal undead Griegr who attack its people?

Take the helm of a sailing ship racing across the open sea and use nautical charts to explore its vast waters. At times, you will even challenge enemy vessels in naval combat.

This entry in the Ys series pursues the joy of adventure. A new adventure for the young Adol Christin in the northern waters of Obelia Gulf begins now!

Adol Christin — voiced by Yuki Kaji

An exceptional adventurer who left more than a hundred adventure journals to posterity, Adol has fiery red hair and clear eyes filled with curiosity.

He left Esteria, the setting of his first adventure, at seventeen and was believed to have subsequently headed for Celceta. However, one of the adventure journals discovered at his birthplace, Paradise Lost of the Northern People, reveals that he stopped at Obelia Gulf with the former bandit Dogi before travelling to Celceta.

Karja Balta — voiced by Lynn

“I'm a pirate. Depending on how things go, I might kill you next.”

The only daughter of Grimson, leader of the Balta navy.

She openly engages in piracy at the head of the sea's rough men. Having witnessed her exploits, the residents of Carnac fear her as the Pirate Princess.

Despite her refined features, she carries a hand axe and round shield and fights with the roughness and brutality characteristic of a Norman.

Dogi — voiced by Kenta Miyake

“Adol, when I'm with you, adventures seem to come looking for us.”

A good-natured giant of a bandit whom Adol met in Esteria.

He excels at hand-to-hand combat, and his powerful fists are strong enough to smash through rock walls. After their great adventure involving the ancient kingdom of Ys, Dogi decided to leave the bandit life behind.

He and Adol seem to get along remarkably well. He travels alongside Adol, looking after the young man whose eyes always light up at the prospect of a new adventure.

Grenn Berge — voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi

“Come, young people! The militia is waiting for you to join!!”

A boy who belongs to Carnac's militia.

His unfailingly positive, passionate nature sometimes leaves him spinning his wheels alone. Yet his casual remarks often get to the heart of matters, earning him the respect of the other boys and girls his age.

He is also the eldest son of Mr Berge, the mayor of Carnac, although he apparently hates anyone bringing that up.

Rosalind Rusveri — voiced by Yoshino Aoyama

“Honestly! Dad, I think you should listen to someone else once in a while!”

The welcoming face of the Rusveri Inn and Tavern, a popular establishment in town.

Affectionately known as Rosa, she takes an interest in Adol, a traveller her own age, and approaches him to talk.

Considerate and good-natured, she is described by regular customers as more responsible than her parents. Perhaps because she can be a little outspoken, she has an easy, frank relationship with boys her age such as Grenn and Cruz.

Cruz Carpent — voiced by Yuya Hirose

“Well, it can't be helped. It was only a childhood dream.”

The heir to the thriving Carpent Trading Company in Carnac.

He grew up in the same town as his childhood friends Grenn and Rosalind, but his family's work has kept him busy and they have recently begun to drift apart.

A book lover who finds studying no burden, he has extensive knowledge of all kinds of things. Though he seems quiet at first, he is surprisingly enterprising: as a child, he even caused an incident by trying to stow away aboard a merchant ship from the Romun Empire.

Rafe Evelies — voiced by Wataru Hatano

“It's all right, Grenn. You were born an idiot.”

A childhood friend of Grenn and Cruz who works away from home, outside town, rather than living in his house in Carnac.

When talking to Grenn, Rosalind and the others, he jokes and teases them in ways typical of his age. At times, however, an oddly mature side shows through.

Even when he returns to his hometown, he apparently avoids contact with his family and will not go near his own house.

Mirabel Asrad — voiced by Kana Asumi

“All right, all right, that's enough. If you're going to fight, do it with a little more spirit, like boys should!”

A nurse working at the clinic her father opened in Carnac.

She is cheerful and friendly, but surprisingly resolute, remaining perfectly natural even when dealing with Karja, the Pirate Princess.

Having been looked after by her since childhood, Grenn and his friends can never stand up to her. At the same time, she understands them well and quietly watches over their growth.

Cross Action: switch between two forms of combat

Ys action pursues the joy of adventure!

In Solo Mode, control either Adol or Karja and use steps and dashes for fast-paced battles.

In Combination Mode, control both characters simultaneously in an approach that unites attack and defence. Build up the Revenge Gauge and aim to inflict massive damage!

Navigate the open sea with nautical charts

Take control of the sailing ship Sandras and explore Obelia Gulf, the setting of your adventure.

Explore its vast waters using information obtained in towns and on nautical charts.

Set your sights on unknown islands while engaging enemy ships in naval battles!

Mana Action: mysterious powers that hold the key to the story

Extend a thread of mana and use a pendulum motion to reach distant places. Ride the ancient Grimbleboard, which floats above the ground and glides like a skateboard!

Travel across water, or launch through the air like a catapult from pockets of wind. Experience swift, dynamic movement.

Powerful boss battles with Highlight Attacks

Boss battles introduce Highlight Attacks, a first for the series, for an even more immersive presentation.

Press buttons with the right timing at key moments in combat to land powerful blows against bosses with even more spectacular effects!
