AD-LIVE Stage & Musicals

Kenichi Suzumura’s improvised stage production AD-LIVE 2023 presents the August 27, 2023 performance starring Kenjiro Tsuda and Showtaro Morikubo.

What is AD-LIVE? Unpredictability! Only a broad setting and a handful of events on stage, such as a telephone ringing or someone arriving, are decided in advance. The performers' characters and every line of dialogue are created entirely through improvisation. They discover one another's characters for the first time on stage.

Emotion and surprise! The chemistry between unpredictable improvisation, whose course and outcome no one knows, and the few predetermined events produces a moving, surprising drama unique to that place and moment.

This year's theme is Restarting Fate. A person has died because of trouble even a god could not foresee. Watching the entire incident from heaven, the god is flustered by the unexpected turn of events, then has an idea: restart fate and guide the person to the true ending they should originally have reached! The god summons someone connected to the deceased to lead them toward that ending.

Restarting fate begins suddenly, but even divine power cannot make everything go smoothly. The summoned person's memories and appearance become those of someone else, while the deceased person's memories are also clouded. Using the Fate Orbs granted by the god, whose power can change even the future, can they reach the true ending despite being tossed about by events? Do not miss these unpredictable moments of wonder from AD-LIVE as it celebrates its fifteenth anniversary!

Two main Blu-rays record the afternoon and evening performances separately. A special booklet, audio commentary, commercials, promotional videos and the Fate Orbs used to determine the setting are included. Specifications and extras may change. The region-free set runs 180 minutes and provides Japanese Linear PCM audio with no subtitles; the main audio channel count is not specified.
