Pretty Cure Animation

“We will never lose!” Created for the twentieth anniversary of the landmark Pretty Cure franchise, which had grown to seventy-seven Cures at the time of this release, this set brings the legendary original Futari wa Pretty Cure to Blu-ray in its entirety for the first time. High-grade upconversion presents the series in HD.

Nagisa Misumi is a popular, athletic and reckless second-year student at Verone Academy’s girls’ junior high school. She dislikes studying but has a powerful sense of justice. Honoka Yukishiro is always at the top of her class, though she can be unexpectedly absent-minded. Each meets a mysterious creature: Mepple and Mipple have fled to Earth after the evil Dotsuku Zone attacked their home, the Garden of Light. They give Nagisa and Honoka the power to transform and fight. Despite their different interests and personalities, the girls join forces against the enemies sent by Dotsuku Zone.

The set contains all forty-nine episodes. A dedicated bonus disc gathers material from the 2011 DVD box and the 2020 compilation: the DANZEN! Futari wa Yappari Precure conversation, commercials, the riddle corners for episodes 1–49, and Shiho Presents! Takaramono da yo! Watashitachi no Hibi. It also includes full-length highlight videos for the opening theme DANZEN! Futari wa Precure and ending theme Getchu! Love Love?!, a collection of transformation and special-move scenes, and newly included HD creditless opening footage from episode 49 and ending footage from episodes 1 and 30.

Akira Inagami’s newly drawn illustrations decorate the digistack and special foil-and-hologram ribbon slipcase, coloured to evoke Cure Black. Its ribbon symbolises the importance of the two heroines joining hands and the sparkle of their memories. The physical Memorial booklet includes the complete episode 42 storyboard, selected recording-script scenes, a commemorative discussion and cast-and-staff messages.
