HIGH CARD Stage & Musicals

The multimedia project HIGH CARD makes its long-awaited stage debut! A stylish blend of playing cards, supernatural powers and battle action, the story follows Finn and his companions in High Card, an organisation charged with retrieving 52 X-Playing Cards that grant special abilities to chosen individuals and have become scattered across the country. Humour runs through their extraordinary adventures.

Beginning with a drama CD released in December 2021, the project continued to expand into manga and serialised novels. The first television anime season aired in January 2023, followed by a second season in January 2024. Its ever-growing world now takes the next step onto the stage.

Finn Oldman, who grew up in an orphanage, heads to a casino hoping to win enough money to save it from eviction. Instead, he becomes caught up in trouble involving Players who wield supernatural abilities. There he encounters Chris Redgrave, who demands that Finn hand over his card. Restrained by Chris, Finn next finds himself at the Old Maid branch of the long-established car manufacturer Pinochle, among the eccentric Players Leo Constantine Pinochle, Wendy Sato and Vijay Kumar Singh.

Finn learns about the 52 X-Playing Cards and High Card, the group ordered by the king of Fourland to recover them. Joining as a trainee, he becomes Chris's partner and sets out on card-retrieval missions. What he needs are manners, dignity and the resolve to risk his life. For a greater cause, personal ambition or revenge, people race to bring the cards into their hands. When every card is gathered, will their destiny be prosperity, destruction, or something else?

The production was performed at Theatre 1010 from January 19 to 29, 2024. Bonus footage takes viewers backstage from rehearsals through the final performance, accompanied by the closing-night curtain call. A booklet is included. Specifications are subject to change.
