Moriarty the Patriot Stage & Musicals

The story of Crime Lord James Moriarty and the great detective Holmes raises its curtain once more, woven together through live piano and violin. A Scandal in the British Empire Reprise reworks the acclaimed Op.2 production first performed in July 2020.

Based on the manga serialized in Jump SQ. since 2016, the musical depicts the fated struggle between Moriarty, who secretly uses crime to overturn the nation's class system, and Holmes, who pursues its mysteries. The musical series began in May 2019 and drew attention for its live instrumental accompaniment. Its productions grew in intensity, culminating in Op.5: The Final Problem in August 2023, which portrayed the climax of the manga's first part, and a July 2024 concert celebrating the series' fifth anniversary with fans.

As the manga's second part began in December 2024, the Reprise production was announced for May 2025. It returns to the acclaimed British Empire scandal with a new company. How will it portray the strange triangle between the Crime Lord, the great detective and the beautiful woman who throws their story into turmoil?

Catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes. It is late nineteenth-century London, at the height of the British Empire's Pax Britannica. The upper classes rule through a rigid, long-established class system. A person's position is fixed from birth for their entire life, inevitably creating discrimination. James Moriarty races through London to destroy this corrupt system and create an ideal country, while Sherlock Holmes pursues the mystery of the Crime Lord.

One night, as the darkness and light surrounding the Crime Lord and the detective occupy the public's attention, Albert receives an order from Mycroft, head of intelligence at the War Office, to recover vital classified documents stolen from the royal family. His target is Irene Adler, known as The Woman. After hearing the instructions from Albert, William secretly devises a plan as Crime Lord James Moriarty. At the same time, Irene has made contact with Sherlock Holmes. Manipulating and being manipulated by the British Empire's scandal, Moriarty and Holmes come to discover Irene's true desire.

Video extras include backstage footage, scenes that varied from day to day, wide-stage recordings of selected singing scenes and the final performance's curtain call. A booklet is included. The original first-production bonus was a randomly selected set of two photographic prints. This limited bonus depends on remaining first-production stock and is not guaranteed.
