Moriarty the Patriot Stage & Musicals

The players gather, and the final case begins. The fifth production of the Moriarty the Patriot musical series brings the popular Jump SQ. manga to the stage, with live piano and violin adding to the immediacy of the performance. The original comics had passed 6.6 million copies in circulation by February 2023.

At the end of the nineteenth century, London stands at the height of the British Empire’s Pax Britannica. An entrenched class system places the upper classes in control and determines a person’s lifelong status from birth, inevitably creating discrimination. Within this society, a young man seeks to remove the evils of the class system and build an ideal country. This is the story of James Moriarty, the adversary of Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock’s killing of Milverton triggers news that shakes the entire British Empire: the Lord of Crime is William James Moriarty. Hated by citizens and aristocrats alike, William begins purging members of the privileged classes according to his plan. As William shoulders every crime alone, Louis and his companions each reflect on what this means.

Meanwhile, Mycroft and Watson visit the arrested Sherlock. Although Sherlock remains nonchalant despite his crime, Mycroft reveals a certain fact to him. The final stage of the Moriarty Plan, the last case, finally begins.

The production was performed at Mielparque Hall in Osaka from August 24 to 27, 2023, and at the Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo from September 1 to 10.
