The Arland trilogy returns in DX form

The enduringly popular Arland trilogy from the Atelier series is reborn in DX editions.

Arland is one of the alchemy-based Atelier series, in which you combine materials to create new items. With illustrator Mel Kishida's character designs, its appealing characters and distinctive world have captivated many players. The trilogy comprises Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland and Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland.

What the DX editions bring

The games return on newer platforms, including PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

These deluxe versions build on New Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori Plus and Atelier Meruru Plus, which added scenarios, monsters, costumes and other new elements to their originals, and include downloadable content.

A separate Atelier Arland 1, 2 and 3 DX Premium Box was also released, bringing all three games together with original merchandise in a specially priced set. This individual edition contains the game named in its title.

Develop the kingdom through alchemy

Become Meruru, princess of the small frontier kingdom of Arls, and use alchemy to guide its development.

In this third entry in the Arland series, Meruru works to advance her own country. Use synthesis, exploration and combat to increase its population and develop Arls within the time limit.

A princess discovers the world beyond her kingdom

The Kingdom of Arls lies far to the northwest of the Republic of Arland. Compared with Arland, which has developed greatly through machines and alchemy, this small frontier country is distinguished mainly by having no distinguishing features.

Gio, the head of the Republic of Arland, proposes to his old friend King Dessier that Arls join the republic. Many challenges stand in the way. To address the opposition's criticism and strengthen Arls, the entire kingdom undertakes a development program.

The first decision is to dispatch talented people from Arland. Among them is the alchemist Totori.

Princess Meruru meets Totori and is deeply impressed by her first experience of alchemy. Wanting to become an alchemist and venture into the outside world, she practically insists on becoming Totori's apprentice.

Her encounter with an art that could enrich her country will change her destiny.

Additional content incorporated into the game

The DX edition includes many additions from Atelier Meruru Plus, including previously untold episodes and extra costumes and accessories such as Gothic Lolita-style outfits, swimwear and tiaras. Some content is excluded.

The included additions are Mushroom Princess Swimsuit, Mini Straw Hat, Striped Heaven and Summer Blossom. An additional Dusk-series background-music pack contains nine tracks.

Characters illustrated by Mel Kishida

The character designs are by Mel Kishida. Known for illustrations with a luminous, translucent quality, he brings the Arland cast to life. The many characters he has drawn add color and charm to the world of Arland.
