In V, seek out someone stronger than yourself

The numbered Street Fighter series returns with distinctive veterans and newcomers, with 16 characters available at launch. The original announced roster names Ryu, Chun-Li, Nash, M. Bison, Cammy, Birdie, Ken, Vega, Rainbow Mika, Karin Kanzuki, Zangief and Dhalsim, alongside newcomers Necalli, Rashid and Laura—and more.

Critical Arts: the greatest, strongest special attacks

Spend the entire EX gauge to unleash a character's ultimate technique. Every fighter has a distinctive Critical Art, with spectacular presentation to match.

V-Trigger: pull the trigger on victory

Spend the whole V-Gauge to activate your greatest trump card. Character-specific special effects can transform the flow of battle in an instant.

V-Skill: reveal your individuality

Unique techniques draw out each character's defining qualities, with new actions such as reflecting an opponent's projectile or performing a special jump. They can be used repeatedly during a match.

V-Reversal: strike back

Spend V-Gauge to counterattack while guarding against an opponent's attack.

Original update and in-game-currency announcement

The original launch description announced that post-release updates would generally be free, with additional characters, costumes and other content obtainable through two in-game currencies. Fight Money was described as earned through playing, letting effort unlock various content; Zenny was announced as a currency purchased with real money for convenient access. These describe the original announcement rather than a guarantee that every historical currency or offer remains available.

Connect with rivals worldwide through CFN

The official Capcom Fighters Network community tool supports news and matches, helping you connect with rivals around the world. Network battles and certain other content require a paid PlayStation Plus subscription; consult Sony's PlayStation Plus information for details.

Simple systems with depth

The renewed battle systems retain the action characteristic of Street Fighter while pursuing an experience that is simple yet deeply rewarding to master. The three V systems—V-Skill, V-Reversal and V-Trigger—make each fighter's personality stand out in battle.

The original launch roster contained 16 characters, with six further characters announced for the first year after release, bringing the planned total to 22.

Earn content with Fight Money

The manufacturer's description explains that playing earns Fight Money, which can be saved and spent to obtain characters, costumes and other content without paying real money. Using Fight Money requires an online connection.

Tutorial Mode for newcomers and series fans

Tutorial Mode helps newcomers learn Street Fighter V comfortably. It also contains a story of Ryu and Ken in their younger days, allowing play in the familiar training-gi costumes from previous games. With illustrations by BENGUS, the mode contains plenty for series fans to appreciate as well.
