A cast of distinctive returning and new fighters

Sixteen characters are available from the outset: twelve returning fighters and four newcomers.

The featured roster includes Ryu, Chun-Li, Nash, M. Bison, Cammy, Birdie, Ken, Vega, Rainbow Mika, Karin Kanzuki, Zangief and Dhalsim, alongside newcomers Necalli, Rashid and Laura—and more.

Following launch, additional characters were made available separately as paid content. By 2019, the overall roster had grown beyond thirty characters; these separately released additions are not a claim that every character is included in this edition.

A new battle system that brings out each fighter's individuality

Critical Arts

The most powerful special moves! These ultimate techniques are activated by using the entire EX Gauge.

Every character has a distinctive Critical Art. Watch their individual presentations as well.

V-Trigger

Pull the trigger on victory! This greatest trump card is activated by using the entire V-Gauge.

A character-specific special effect can abruptly change the flow of battle.

V-Skill

Bring out individuality! These unique techniques draw out each character's characteristics to the fullest.

They offer entirely new actions, such as reflecting an opponent's projectiles or performing a special jump. They can be activated repeatedly during a match.

V-Reversal

Strike back with a counterattack! By spending V-Gauge, you can counter while guarding an opponent's attack.

Network battles

Ranked Matches let you compete online with players around the world. League Points change according to your victories and defeats.

Casual Matches offer an easy way to enjoy competition. You can wait for a match from the menu or while playing Training or Story Mode.

Survival Mode

Survival Mode is ideal for testing your skills. Challenge a succession of battles under restricted conditions and aim for your own high score. Clearing a course grants costume colors for the character you used.

Four difficulty levels are available: EASY, NORMAL, HARD and HELL. Select a course suited to your ability. Clearing the courses grants costume colors or titles.

Training Mode

Training is essential to honing a wide range of techniques. You can freely configure your own and your opponent's character conditions, making the mode useful to everyone from beginners to advanced players.

Street Fighter V also offers convenient shortcut functions. Instantly switch character positions, the opponent's actions and the battle-information display on the versus screen so you can concentrate on practice.

Story Mode

Sixteen fighters have a full range of personalities. What is each fighter's goal? Enjoy the world of Street Fighter V.

Clearing a character's Story Mode unlocks access to that character's alternate costume.

Featured fighters

Ryu, the “Unwavering Fist,” is the protagonist, traveling the world in pursuit of the path to true martial arts.

Ken, “Rush & Blaze,” is Ryu's fellow disciple and closest friend, as well as his greatest rival. He is the head of America's Masters family foundation.

Chun-Li, the “Blue Jade,” is an ICPO investigator who fights with brilliant legwork. She began searching for her missing father at eighteen.

Rainbow Mika, the “Seven-Colored Bomber,” is Mika Nanakawa. Admiring the legendary Red Cyclone Zangief, she became a professional wrestler.

Zangief, the “Iron Cyclone,” is a giant professional wrestler also known as the Red Cyclone. His powerful, intimidating appearance conceals a cheerful personality. He continues strengthening his muscles and honing his throws.

M. Bison, the “Final Villain,” leads a secret criminal organization. His hair appears to have turned gray—but why?

Rashid, the “Friend of the Turbulent Wind,” confounds opponents with swift parkour movement. He can use whirlwinds to increase his mobility further. A passionate spirit lies behind his easygoing words, and he has unexpected interests, including gadgets.
