Higurashi: When They Cry Entergram

Higurashi Hou arrives on PlayStation 4

The well-received Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hou comes to PlayStation 4.

Twenty-three scenarios

The 19 scenarios from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui are joined by four new scenarios: Higurashi Outbreak, based on the spin-off novel; its sequel, Outbreak: Kamikashimashi; Hinamizawa Bus Stop, the original work from which Higurashi no Naku Koro ni developed; and Batsukoishi, the once-elusive after-party for the Meakashi chapter.

Together, they deliver 23 scenarios.

A different look for Hinamizawa Bus Stop

Hinamizawa Bus Stop uses the character designs from its manga adaptation. Tomozo, who illustrated Hinamizawa Bus Stop: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Genten, newly designs Mion, Rika and the other characters, presenting this original story with a flavor different from earlier games.

A new opening song and movie

A completely new opening song features lyrics and composition by Chiyomaru Shikura and vocals by Yumi Matsuzawa.

Shikura, who has created many opening songs for the console Higurashi games, provides a new song. Matsuzawa, known for numerous popular songs and celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut at this release, performs it. A new opening movie is created to accompany the song.

A story on a grand scale

With more than 10 MB of scenario text, approximately 120,000 voiced words, over 120 background-music tracks and more than 100 hours of play, this expansive story begins.

Quiz Oyashiro Shock Ver. 2018

A quiz about the Higurashi series is included as a bonus mode. Questions range from the basics to deeply obscure trivia, testing your knowledge of—and love for—the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series.

Prologue

Early summer, 1983. The heat has arrived earlier than usual this June. Cicadas sing during the day, giving way to a chorus of evening cicadas at dusk.

Far from the city, deep in the mountains, lies the remote village of Hinamizawa. With fewer than 2,000 inhabitants, this is where it happens every year.

The Hinamizawa series of mysterious deaths.

On a particular day each June, one person dies and another disappears. A chain of deaths is woven from the struggle over a massive dam project.

Strange incidents are concealed. Tragedies repeat. Is it a conspiracy? Coincidence? Or a curse?

Someone who should be there is absent. Someone who should not be there is present. The person you met last night is no longer alive. And the person here now is no longer alive.

Is tragedy unavoidable? Is surrender the only option?

But do not give in. Carve out your destiny with your own hands.

Rena Ryugu

Caring by nature, Rena is the protagonist's closest friend. She cannot resist cute things and has a habit of taking anything she finds adorable back home with her.

Rika Furude

Rika has a calm, quiet personality beyond her years. Her occasional little expressions, such as “mii” and “nipah☆,” are as endearing as a kitten and pack an irresistible punch.

Mion Sonozaki

Energetic, easygoing and like a big sister, Mion is admired by those around her. Her occasional old-man mannerisms are part of her charm.

Satoko Hojo

Satoko speaks in the style of a refined young lady, though her grammar can be questionable. She hates losing and has a cheeky side, but is still young and sometimes bursts into tears when the protagonist or Mion teases her.
