Ghibli wo Utau Sono 2 returns to the music of Studio Ghibli under the production of Satoshi Takebe. The composer, arranger and keyboard player, who worked on From Up on Poppy Hill and Earwig and the Witch, follows his earlier tribute album with another gathering of artists from different generations and genres.

The thirteen participating acts are AiNA THE END, Yudai Ohno and Sota Hanamura of Da-iCE, Sakurako Ohara, Aya Ogawa and Iroha Okuda of Nogizaka46, Kalafina, Shiori Tamai of Momoiro Clover Z, GLIM SPANKY, Ninjin from Rokudenashi, Non with SOIL & PIMP SESSIONS, Taro Hakase and Satoshi Takebe, Penthouse, Win Morisaki and Hiroko Yakushimaru. Takebe also contributes the instrumental epilogue.

Goro Miyazaki created the original jacket illustration specifically for this album as a companion to the previous cover. A girl plays a piano accordion on a green hillside beneath a clear blue sky, bringing Ghibli imagery and music together.
