Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato: Warriors of Love, a standard-bearer of the anime boom, returns in a long-awaited restoration. After half a century, the images and sound audiences experienced at its original screenings are brought back to life using the latest technology. The film returned to cinemas on January 5, 2024.

The original negatives were rediscovered and restored. Scanning and remastering from the master positive film bring out the vivid information preserved in the film, with damage and fine scratches thoroughly corrected. Newly discovered magnetic recording master materials also restore the sound of its first theatrical screenings, achieving greater dynamic range and audio quality.

The year is 2201. Earth has healed the wounds of its war with Gamilas and is enjoying unprecedented prosperity. Former Yamato crew members Kodai, Shima and Sanada are escorting convoys transporting resources between planets. During a voyage back to Earth, Kodai picks up a transmission from an unknown star, calling on Earth for help. Sensing danger, the Yamato veterans board the ship sleeping in its undersea dock and set out on a new journey!

An accompanying booklet revisits the film. The extras include the version screened at the 1979 Yamato Festival, featuring revised ending credits.
