Lupin III Bye-Bye Liberty Crisis Blu-ray pits the elusive thief against a world that can predict his every move. With information networks storing his history in databases across the globe, Lupin begins to wonder whether retirement is his only way out. Jigen and his old friend Rooster arrive with a new job that offers a reason to reconsider.

Their plans unravel when the mysterious Three Masons secret society discovers their hiding place. Rooster is shot during the escape, and his final words send Lupin and Jigen after an extraordinary prize: the world's largest diamond, concealed inside the Statue of Liberty. What begins as one more impossible theft becomes a promise to a dying friend.

Based on Monkey Punch's characters, this television special is directed by Osamu Dezaki, written by Hiroshi Kashiwabara and scored by Yuji Ohno. Yasuo Yamada, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Makio Inoue, Eiko Masuyama and Goro Naya return as Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko and Zenigata. The guest cast includes Yui Komazuka as Isabel, Mayumi Tanaka as Michael, Masane Tsukayama as Jimmy Kunz and Tamio Ohki as Rooster.

VAP's individual release presents approximately 97 minutes on one region-free Blu-ray, with 4:3 1080p video and Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo audio. There are no subtitles. The recorded programme matches the edition included in the 2010 television-special Blu-ray collection.
