Lupin III Anime

An elusive master thief who always takes the treasure he targets. A man who loves freedom and lives for romance. His name is Lupin III. Sometimes phantom thieves, sometimes the three beautiful sisters running a cafe, the women who race coolly through the night and set the world talking are Cat's Eye.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the anime adaptation of Monkey Punch's classic Lupin III and the 40th anniversary of Tsukasa Hojo's first serialized work, Cat's Eye, this long-awaited collaboration brings together master thief and phantom thieves! Set in the 1980s, when Cat's Eye was originally serialized, it delivers exhilarating crime action with retro style. The target is three paintings left behind by Cat's Eye's father. As Lupin and the sisters pursue the same paintings in a dream showdown between thieves, their captivating characters collide and the story leads toward a startling secret hidden in the artwork...

Lupin III's eccentric world meets the deeply moving, emotional storytelling of Cat's Eye in a new work that is both classic and bold. Directors Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita, together with an array of emerging creators, deliver high-quality cel-look CG imagery. A stellar voice cast carrying on the original productions adds to the excitement. An entertainment spectacle for adults lighting up the nights of the Reiwa era: witness this extraordinary meeting of thieves for yourself.

Tokyo, 1981. Hitomi, Rui and Ai, the beautiful sisters who run a cafe by day and make headlines as the phantom thieves Cat's Eye by night, steal a painting from an art exhibition. At the same time, the elusive Lupin III arrives in Tokyo and outwits an armed organization to steal another painting. Both works belong to Bouquet and Girl, a triptych by the painter Michael Heinz. For the sisters, they are vital clues to the whereabouts of Heinz, their missing father. Learning that the legendary thief is pursuing the same treasure, their eyes gleam with a fierce determination.

The cast features Kanichi Kurita as Lupin III, Akio Otsuka as Daisuke Jigen, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, Koichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata, Keiko Toda as Hitomi Kisugi, Rika Fukami as Rui Kisugi, Chinatsu Sakamoto as Ai Kisugi, Yoshito Yasuhara as Toshio Utsumi and Mugihito as Nagaishi, alongside Banjo Ginga, Hiroki Tochi and Takayuki Sugo.

The feature film is accompanied by a collection of promotional videos. The slipcase uses new artwork by character designer Junko Yamanaka, and a special booklet is enclosed. The region-free 90-minute Blu-ray provides Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel surround and Linear PCM stereo tracks, with Japanese subtitles for the hearing impaired.
